We are excited to announce the return of the in-person Citizen’s Police Academy! Parker area residents are invited to attend the Police Department’s 13-week Citizen’s Police Academy. This program gives participants first-hand information about how the Police Department operates. Classes will focus on criminal law, evidence, dispatch, traffic laws, accident reconstruction, DUI laws, K-9 Units, School Resource Officer Program and many other topics.
In addition to the weekly three-hour classes, there is an optional trip to the law enforcement firearms training facility where participants will have the opportunity to fire weapons used by police officers.
The classroom work, combined with field trips and tours, requires a commitment of one night a week from 6 to 9 p.m. for 13 weeks. All classes are held on Wednesday nights, with the optional Saturday class at the shooting range.
Classes will run from March 2 through May 25. Registration will open on January 19 at 6:00 p.m. Class size is limited to 40, and priority is given to Parker residents. Anyone who registers after the class has been filled will have a priority spot for the fall academy. All registrants must complete a background check to attend.
