Citizen’s Academy Registration is Open

Parker area residents are invited to attend the Police Department’s 10-week Citizen’s Police Academy program. This program gives participants first-hand information about how the Police Department operates. Classes will focus on criminal law, the drug enforcement administration, evidence, dispatch, traffic laws, accident reconstruction, DUI laws, Taser demonstrations, youth education programs and many other topics.

In addition to the weekly classes, there are two optional trips to the law enforcement firearms training facility where participants will have the opportunity to fire weapons used by the police officers. All attendees will also be invited to participate in a graduation at the end of the program.

The classroom work, combined with field trips and tours,requires a commitment of one night a week from 6 to 10 p.m. for 10 weeks. All classes are held on Thursday nights, with the optional Saturday classes at the shooting range.

Classes will run from March 9 through May 11. 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

If you want to take this class, you need to register as soon aspossible. Last year, this class filled up in two days. In an effort to meet thehigh demand for this class, we will be holding a second Citizen’s Academy classstarting September 7. If you are unable to register or attend the spring class,please continue to follow us on social media and our website to register forthe fall class.
