[ARCHIVED] Parker Police Receive Traffic Safety Award

Traffic Safety Award

In June, the Parker Police Department won 1st Place in the 2013 Colorado Law Enforcement Challenge Traffic Safety Awards Program at the annual Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police Conference. The Parker Police Department competed in the mid-sized agency category against other similar sized agencies across the state of Colorado.

The Colorado Law Enforcement Challenge is based on the National Law Enforcement Challenge (NLEC), which is a national traffic safety awards program that recognizes excellent law enforcement traffic safety programs.

The program provides law enforcement agencies with an opportunity to make a difference in the communities they serve and allows agencies to learn from one another and establish future goals in traffic safety enforcement and education.

The challenge included Problem Identification, Planning, and Outcomes. Problem Identification included crash analysis, speed surveys, seatbelt surveys and community input. Planning required agencies to provide a description of the problem, measuring objectives, monitoring activities and overall evaluations. Lastly, Outcomes focused on how the changes made in each agency’s community affected overall safety.

The Parker Police Department is also in the running for the National Law Enforcement Challenge National Traffic Safety Award to be presented in October 2014.
