[ARCHIVED] Be Aware of Vehicle Trespass and Garage Burglaries

Neighboring communities in Douglas County has been experiencing a trend of vehicle trespasses and garage burglaries. Most of these crimes involve a trespass to an unlocked vehicle or to a garage where the garage door is left open. The perpetrators are looking for anything of value to take which is typically left in plain sight.

Please notify the Parker Police Department immediately of any suspicious activity at 303.841.9800 or in an emergency call 911.

Reporting suspicious activity can prevent a crime! Recently in Douglas County, a neighbor contacted the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office about suspicious occupants in a vehicle. This report resulted in contacting suspects who were getting ready to burglarize several homes.

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO APPREHEND SUSPECTS YOURSELF!!

Here are some tips to help deter these types of crimes:
• Lock all vehicles, regardless of whether they are parked outside or inside your garage.
• Do not leave any valuables in your car, regardless of whether they are parked outside or inside your garage.
• Remove all garage door openers from any vehicle parked in your driveway or on the street.
• Check to ensure your garage door is closed before you go to bed at night.
• The door from your garage to your home should always be closed and locked. Treat the entrance door from the garage to your house the same as the exterior entrance.

Talk with your neighbors. Ask them to report any suspicious persons or activities around your home to the Parker Police Department. Good neighbors make safe neighborhoods.
