What is a Police Citizen Academy?

The Access and Functional Needs Citizen Police Academy is an academy specifically designed for individuals with special needs to learn more about local law enforcement and learn the skills to be better prepared in times of emergencies. It is presented in an instructional and friendly environment and is instructed by police and fire personnel.

Who is eligible to attend?

Individuals with special needs, over the age of 14 who reside in Parker County or unincorporated Douglas County are eligible to attend this program. Those 18 or younger are required to have a parent or guardian signature.

If you have previously attended the Access and Functional Needs Citizen Police Academy you are eligible to submit an application however you will be placed on a wait list. If space becomes available you will be notified of your acceptance into the current academy.

How much will it cost?

The Parker Police Department's Citizen Police Academy is provided free of charge. Your only expense will be your time and commitment.
