Registration opens tonight, July 11, at 6:00 p.m. for the Parker Police Department’s free 10 week Citizen's Police Academy program. This program gives participants first-hand information about how the Police Department operates. Classes will focus on criminal law, mounted patrol, evidence, dispatch, traffic laws, accident reconstruction, DUI laws, K-9, youth education programs and many other topics. In addition to the interactive classes, there is an optional trip to the law enforcement firearms training facility where participants will have the opportunity to fire weapons used by the police officers. All attendees will also be invited to participate in a graduation at the end of the program.
This informative and fun class requires a commitment of one night a week from 6 to 9 p.m. for 10 weeks, August 22 through October 24. All classes are held on Thursday nights, with the optional Saturday class at the shooting range. Participation is limited to 40 people ages 18 and older and Town of Parker residents will be given priority.
