It is with extreme pride that the Parker Police Department announces that we achieved the Commission on Accreditation in Law Enforcement Accreditation (CALEA) Reaccreditation with Excellence. At the annual CALEA Conference, it was announced that we achieved our third Accreditation for Law Enforcement and our second Accreditation for Communications.
It was an incredible honor to receive Accreditation with Excellence for the first time in our agencies history. In order to achieve this rare distinction you must achieve 100% policy compliance.
The purpose of CALEA’s Accreditation Program is to improve the delivery of public safety services, primarily by: maintaining a body of standards, developed by public safety practitioners, covering a wide range of up-to-date public safety initiatives; establishing and administering an accreditation process; and recognizing professional excellence.
We believe it is important to our community and employees to maintain the highest standards and most up to date policies. Accreditation establishes a process for policy review that ensures we don’t become complacent and are always striving for the best for our community and employees. An audit allows us to see things we may have missed and is an excellent opportunity to make sur our policies follow best practice standards throughout the country.
Although we received the Accreditation with Excellence award, this is really for you, the community. Maintaining the highest level of service to Parker residents is out top priority and CALEA accreditation is a mechanism that holds us accountable to that standard.
