Parker area residents are invited to attend the Police Department’s 10-week fall Citizen’s Police Academy. This program gives 35 participants first-hand information about how the Police Department operates. Interactive demonstrations include criminal law, evidence, Mounted Patrol, dispatch, traffic laws, accident reconstruction, DUI laws, K-9, youth education programs and many other topics.
In addition to the weekly classes, there is an optional trip to the law enforcement firearms training facility where participants will have the opportunity to fire weapons used by the police officers. All attendees will also be invited to participate in a graduation at the end of the program.
The interactive workshops combined with field trips and tours, requires a commitment of one night a week from 6 to 9 p.m. for 10 weeks. All classes are held on Thursday nights, with the optional Saturday class at the shooting range. Classes will run from September 7 through November 9. Due to the heavy demand for this class, if you are unable to attend every week, we ask that you please wait for one of the 2018 academies.
Registration for the class is open from Wednesday, July 26, at 8:00 a.m. until Friday, July 28, at 5:00 p.m. Please fill out the following registration form: www.parkerpolice.org/caregistration. Preference will be given to Town of Parker residents and a background check will be performed on all attendees.
We look forward to seeing Parker area residents and showing them how their police department operates!
