TIPS Alcohol Training and Certification

TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) is the global leader in education and training for the responsible service, sale and consumption of alcohol. The Police Department's TIPS alcohol class offers alcohol training for on and off premise needs and concessions. The TIPS Training Course is approved by the Town of Parker Special Licensing Authority.
Proven effective by third-party studies, TIPS is a skills-based, responsible alcohol training and certification program that is designed to prevent intoxication, underage drinking and drunk driving by enhancing the fundamental people skills of servers, sellers and consumers of alcohol. TIPS gives individuals the knowledge and confidence they need to recognize potential alcohol-related problems and intervene to prevent alcohol-related tragedies. At the end of the class, participants complete a multiple-choice exam. Participants who pass the exam receive a certification card, valid for three years.
Who Should be Certified
Anyone who serves or sells alcohol in a licensed establishment should take this training and receive their certification. TIPS certification is required by many bars and insurance companies or mandated by the Special Licensing Authority. This includes:

Cost for the TIPS class is $30 per student. This covers all test materials and certification with TIPS for three years. Special classes will be considered based on trainer availability and ample notification. A training class must consist of a least six students.
All classes will be held at the Parker Police Department.
Registration fees need to be paid prior to the class date. The company manager or equivalent will need to pay for employees. Payment must be submitted to the Police Department by phone with a credit card or in person by check, cash or credit card.
Please register as early as possible. If less than six students are registered for a class, it will be canceled five business days prior to class date. A full refund will be provided or the student can choose to register for the next class date. Refunds will NOT be provided if the student does not attend class or does not notify trainers of cancellation five business days prior to class being conducted.
Please be sure to indicate your class preference on the registration form for either off-premise (working at a liquor store, grocery store, convenience store or gas station), on-premise (working in a restaurant, bar or night club and hotel) or concessions.
